One of the great comic writers of our time has passed away. If you have ever enjoyed ICON or STATIC and if you have not then you should.

"Just one day after his 49th birthday, comic book and TV animation writer Dwayne McDuffie passed away due to complications from a surgical procedure.

His first major work for Marvel Comics was "Damage Control," about a clean-up team who deals with the mess those pesky superheroes leave behind post-battle.

In 1992, McDuffie created Milestone Media, which paid special care to cultural sensitivity and diversity in comic books. Later, McDuffie wrote and story-edited for animated television series like "Static Shock," "Teen Titans," and "What's New, Scooby-Doo?"

He was a key figure as story editor and producer of "Justice League Unlimited," and he wrote the story for the video game "Justice League Heroes." He went on to work on "Ben 10: Alien Force."

He also wrote comics for the New York-based DC and Marvel, including runs on "Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight," the Fantastic Four and the Justice League of America. He also penned several animated features, including the just-released "All Star Superman," "Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths"

As Valentine's Day approaches, I wonder . . . .

Valentine's Day is originally a Catholic holiday to celebrate St. Valentine who was martyred in Roman Days. Like most religious traditions, it is being usurped by a secular world. Of course, like most Christian religious traditions, it has pagan origins.

The symbol of the heart is a bit more mysterious. Aristotle though the heart was the center of all emotions. Surely, everyone who has been heartbroken feels that heaviness in the center of the chest. Of course, when someone is excited, the heart beats faster. Thus, it is a natural inclination to associate heart with passion.
The heart shape of a valentine really does not look like a heart.

One of the most intriguing suggestions stems from the seventh century B.C. city-state of Cyrene. Cyrene traded the rare, now extinct, plant silphium. It was known as a means for birth control. The seedpod of the silphium looks exactly like a valentine's heart. Moreover, its use in sex is an obvious connection to love.

Some claim that the round, soft edges of the heart represent fertility or a female body. Visualizing the heart as a depiction of the pubic mound stirs some interesting comparisons. Others also state that it is the shape of a female buttocks pointing down the legs.

However, turn the heart upside down and it becomes a particularly intriguing symbol. Now the heart looks like a pair of plump, dangling breasts. The heart also compares favorably again to the female buttocks this time pointing up the back. The upside down heart also compares favorably to the male genitalia with two testicles and a pointed penis. Others have suggested the heart image looks like the tip of the penis.

It is amazing that such an endearing image has so many possible erotic connections. Perhaps that is why it has endured for so long as such a powerful and connotative symbol.

The New Year has started and 2011 come in with laughter, great friends and some guy passed out on the floor. The inevitable resolutions list must be created. Well inevitable, if you decree that such a list needs to exist. So upon much inner focus and life affirming affirmations my 2011 resolutions list has been created. Set aside are all the basic resolutions such as drink less, act more mature, lose weight (which has been going quite well thank you very much) and date less but commit more.

My New Year's Resolutions for 2011:

I resolve to stay unresolved;
I will get a new LED HDTV
I swear to not stop swearing;
I will focus on feeling unfocused;
I agree to be disagreeable;
I give my word to have words with people;
I maintain that I am high maintenance;
I declare that I will make declarations;
I will opt to keep my options open;
I will have exact change for when madness takes its toll.

There know that list should not be to hard to complete before 2012. Hell it may all be done this month, but I will endeavor to not be an overachiever.

There are many times in life one looks back and realizes how much the people in their life means to them. We do at times odd things for the ones we care about. From driving to Montreal to get that perfect smoked meat sandwich to spending 7.5 hours at a movie theater for the Harry Potter Adventure. We do these things because it brings a smile to our loved ones faces. Nothing feels as good as knowing you have the power to bring joy to a friend or family members life. Be it something simple as a hug to buying Ozzy tickets . The feeling is undeniable amazing and the smile . . well the smile is simply one of the most beautiful things in this world.

Have fun this week spreading smiles to the ones you care about.

They hoped that this would confuse the ghosts and spirits.

Last weeks meeting was going great till someone broached the subject of working Dec 31. Now you are a wee bit anxious about this weeks meeting were the main subject is overtime. Guaranteed meeting harmonizer is the scent of lemon. In a recent study, the scent of lemon made people more generous and altruistic. Researchers explain that the clean scent is associated with good behavior, which is why it brings out the best in people.

Breathing in the scent of lemon essential oil may significantly improve mood, according to a 2008 study of 56 healthy volunteers. In a 2009 study, researchers discovered that animals that inhaled the scent of linalool (a compound found in lemon essential oil, as well as in lavender oil) had a decrease in their levels of stress-elevated immune cells.

So in that next meeting have a small bottle of lemon scented water and sprits the room. Or better yet place a bowl of lemons on your desk. If it does so happen that the sent does not calm an individual down you can always shove it in their mouth.

Weather you are giving thanks for the bountiful harvest or your just thankful that you did not get lost. Today is the day to do it.

As history states the Giving of thanks has been quite a random act of celebration. The date could change from province to province and town to town. Until the Canadian Parliament proclaimed that it should occurring on the second Monday in October (since 1959).

Most Canadians receive a stationary holiday every Thanksgiving Monday. Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia being the exceptions. Hope your long weekend is fill of family, food, friends and pure enjoyment.

You may wonder what this high flying, wise cracking, party loving girl does after a long week of work. Well this beautiful Saturday was cleaning day. Some do love Spring cleaning. Me I love hard core cleaning in the fall. May be something to do with getting ready to spend many hours inside or somin like that. My new best friend (swiffer duster) and I attacked the menacing dust that makes the eyes water and the nose itch. Next it was off to cleaning the walls with my all natural stand by, water and lemon juice. Then on to the floor, my gods what is it with 15 year old boys, they are like walking dirt clouds. Dirt on the walls have progressively climbed higher as my brother gets older. Mounds of dirt collect where he sits and walks. Thought with age it would dissipate not condense. Anyway add some baking soda to the stand by cleaner and floors are done.

Now laundry ugh really do not like doing laundry, should pick up some Rockin' Green laundry soap. Pam states it make things smell clean. I like clean.

Times have changed and women are more independent these days. Men do not need to keep and take care of us. Don't get me wrong we females do like to be treated like princesses more often then not. We do not need to be taken care of. But we like to know that the man we have a heart set on would.

The concept of chivalry has changed with the times. Chivalry now means being kind and courteous to anyone, regardless of romantic interest. This means helping the older woman or man carry groceries to their car, or even simple things such as saying "Bless you" when someone sneezes. And yes holding the door open.

Sitting around hanging with some buds. It's raining out side and the need for some adventure is on. So what may have you done 25 years go. Well you poped in that Goonies VHS and watched one of the best all times growing up movies.

That is right it has been 25 years now since the amazing teenage treasure hunters hit the big screens and our hearts. On November 2nd 2010 The Goonies 25th Anniversary Collector's Edition will be out and features special packaging, an included board game, original storyboard reproductions, a 1985 souvenir magazine reprint, a reprint of a 2009 Empire magazine article with cast photos and updates, and cast commentary with Richard Donner and all seven principle actors.

Wounder if it will have the missing octopus scene. Sorry Baby Ruths are not included.

Curiosity is the first indication of genius. Yet curiosity killed the cat. Luckily a cat has 9 lives.

Ah curiosity, we all may have a love hate relationship with it. But it does have a way of keeping things lively does it not. How does that taste, what does that feel like, how would that sound like, what would happen if, et cetera, et cetera. At times it can be a self induced sensation overload.

The human curiosity has led to great and wondrous discoveries like chocolate. Other times to evil as in reality TV shows. What ever the form my curiosity takes I sure do love the ride even when it makes me cry.

Sometimes we can spend all our life looking for something. At times we may know exactly what we are looking for. Other times we do not realize until it is presented to us. 4 years ago the introduction to football (soccer) was provided. Over the past years I have been cultivating this pasttime. Not in the physical aspect. This girl does not run. All of it has been done in the viewing enjoyment.

Watching sports has not been something that was enjoyed in the past. Maybe it is due to a new maturity on my part or maybe it was the fact of not knowing which one I liked until it was shown to me. Must say that the adrenalin of a goal is additive and the disappointment of losing is acute. All in all I love this sport. Now if we can get everyone to stop diving from a simple touch it would be great.

Yet I am still looking for something . . . .

Over the course of my life there have been certain drinks that I enjoyed drinking. Anything with tequila has always been a fav. On a recent trip to Prince Edward County a passion for wine was developed. Don't worry tequila I still love you. To finally find some wine to enjoy on its own is rare for me. To be able to walk around one room and taste different local wines is the only way to go.

First stop
Copper Kettle Chocolate Company for some chocolate shots filled with local Ice Wines. Oh my Gods!!

Second stop

Hillier Creek Estates - Chardonnay Estate 2008 and Pinot Noir 2007 full body wines designed for sipping and relaxing.

Over to The county Cider CO. were the best non carbonated Cider is created and labeled Prince Edward County Iced Cider this cider was so good that a 2nd glass was needed.

Best of the best was Huffs Estates Riesling Off Dry 2008 it may have been the 6 glasses of wine before but the 2 bottles enjoyed at home are still as good.

Another trip is needed to beautiful Picton for some more wine tasting and purchasing. The B&B locations by lake Ontario looks like a good place to lay ones head after a day of local wine touring.

Ever wondered exactly what this girl does for a living. Well to try and put it into perspective here is a little bit of news from AT&T that this girl helped set up.

In a press release issued Tuesday, AT&T announced it is sponsoring free WiFi in Times Square to alleviate some of the traffic on its already-strained 3G network. As AT&T isvbehind in that regard. The WiFi "hotzone" is available free to AT&T customers with qualifying smartphone, 3G LaptopConnect, and AT&T High Speed Internet plans.

The service, installed at the north end of Times Square, won't reach too far, but it will help the crowds make phone calls, receive texts, email photos, and look up directions by taking a little bit of pressure off of the 3G network.

Now tomorrow I will do my part to help strengthen that 3G network, and that is what I do in a day.

This Saturday I supported my fav lovely ladies and their orgasms in a cup, aka Three Cheers Cupcakes. Sadly this was the second last time the delectable goodness will be available to the general public. All is not lost though, they my depart form the craft show business but my new found thrill of craft shows has been reborn.

Tarts n’ Crafts had a bounty of home grown goodness from handmade jewelry to homemade fudge. The variety in booths was just what the doctor ordered. As it is Mothers day on Sunday was not on the hunt for myself. Mores the pity. Finding a wonderful gift was top on the list and boy did I succeed.

First found the cutest hand built classic companion mug for my mother who is an avid coffee drinker. The little smiley face will cheer up any morning sourpuss. The artist Wai-Yant Li is based in Montreal and makes every delightful creation by hand. Road trip is need to get myself a spiky mug!

Second find were some homemade chocolates that are simply heaven on a tongue. Created right here in Ottawa, Koko Chocolates are pure goodness in dark chocolate form. Sampled the Triple chocolate truffle and almost lost my mind to the sweet sensations that went coursing through my body. Mother should love them.

Next stop Ottawa Veg Fest the final show for Three Cheers Cupcakes. Tear.

Best Beer Ever

Normally beer drinking is not one of my favorite pastimes. It makes my tummy full and the burping, do not get me started on the burping. With that said Stuart's Natural Session Ale is my new all time fav beer.

As their Scotch Irish Brewing web site states "This ale is the first and only all organic beer brewed in Eastern Ontario using all certified organic malts and hops. Stuart's is deep golden in colour, moderately hopped and has a clean finish. Do not think I have every enjoyed a beer as much as this one. Oh did I mention that the stubby bottles the sweet elixir come in are soooo cute.

Now excuse me as I try some Stuarts Natural Beer Pancakes?

Kobo E-Reader

Kobo is a Toronto based company the has been making ereader software for PC and smartphones. Now they also make some pretty nice hardware. At 120mm x 184mm x 10mm thick and only 221 grams. It is a great size to carry around. Built in 1GB memory for up to 1000 books and SD slot for expansion for when the 1000 books is just not enough.

The price point is marvelous at $149 and may be one of the cheapest in the market. This little device reads EPUB and PDF files from all sources. The PDF format did not work out ~~at all~~ that well. Though switching to landscape did work a bit. After some research found a nice little free program called Calibre and did batch converts from PDF to EPub with large txt. 20.0pt. Now dancing for joy.

The software that come with the reader only allows the syncing of purchased books from Kobo. Calibre will sync all files with ease. Also the good old dragging and dropping is as always a breeze.

All in all i love it.

Socks they cover our feet to make them warm and cozy. They also help to ensure our skin is safe from our shoes. But do we ever really think about how fashionable they can be. Pesonally I love waring funky socks, they may not be seen by everyone but some may get a glimpse of orange and purple and wonder wow what was that. Sad to say that cool socks are hard to come by. Well they were until Sock Dreams decided to fix that issue. From Angora to Victoriana and from Half Socks to Thigh Highs they have us covered.

New Orleans

If one wants some down home blues and jazz there is no better place like New Orleans. Not talking about Mardi Gras Orleans. Talking about the laid back day to day New Orleans. Where the food is spicy, the reality slow and the sounds are sweet.

As usual the best place to stay would be at a bed & breakfast may be something in the French Quarter close to , BOURBON St but far enough away to disappear in the sounds of an over grown garden. Once done head on out to soak up some Louisiana sounds and meet some gifted people that can not be found anywhere else

Think it may be time to book a trip and enjoy some beignets and café au lait the right way.

Suspension

Is it a suspension of disbelief or personal mental getaway. We do it when we go to the theater,a movie, read a book and play a video game.

For the past week I have been a female Alienage Elf rouge. There is a back story, there is always a back story. The main point is slicing up baddies with some bad ass dual wielding sward and dagger skills. Traveling to exotic places with no need for a passport. Hanging out with some cool creatures that stick by through thick and thin. Romanced a bastard prince and got kinky with a smart ass assassin. Solved puzzles for complete strangers and recived gold or weapons as a reword. Killed the dragon and loads of evil darkspawn in order to save the realm. Talk about some suspension of reality.

Next week I just may become a prince and roll up objects or become a deadly thief and live in the shadows.

Who said you can't pretend to be someone else for a bit.

Paths

Many years ago I had to choose. In everyone's life there is always a path they wished they traveled. One of my paths have always seemed chosen for me. Many a day has been spent with thoughts of what would have happen had the opposite path been followed. The one that was really wanted. Then ~~so called~~ wisdom takes hold of these fanciful thoughts and whips them in to submission. Then the realization that the current path my lead to the one that was lost. Maybe we are not as lost as we thought. Then again if the lost path is desired maybe some bush waking is in order to find it. Truth be told I have never been all that big on following paths.

Excuse me as I find some clay or plasticine or April mud and a Bowie knife, it is time to create a new path.

Personally I believe moving an hour ahead is wrong. Daylight savings is all about getting as much Sun as possible but is 1 hours of Sun worth messing up my sleep patterns? When George Vernon Hudson proposed DST was he thinking about the affect it had on the human inner clock. I think not. Now we must deal with painful mornings and grumpy co-workers for the next month or so. All for 1 more hour of Sun according to human time concepts. Does the Sun not shine no matter what time stamp we give it?

As I sit here hunched over in pain the brain decides to wander. As is its way when the pain has a come. Current dream is about learning to surf at Davidson's Point in Kauai. The day would begin with a good surfing lesson. Then some breakfast of fresh fruit and other delectables of local cuisine at the B&B. Maybe a little rest on the beach to decide what to do that day. Such as hiking the lush mountains of Koke'e, or perhaps a boat tour to experience the breathtaking Na Pali coast. Better yet why not wonder around visiting people and learning the ways of the Hawaiian.

What is the etiquette of sex toys? Many of us say once the relationship is over so is the use of the toys with a new partner. Though my new obsession with Cathouse gives a different opinion. The dreamy black and white video won the $100,000 first prize at the LG Life’s Good FilmFest, beating out filmmakers from around the globe. Each HD entry was restricted to no more than five minutes in length and had to convey the notion that “Life’s Good.” The imagery is simply amazing and poetic. Who new a simple moment could express so much.

Photographer and scientist Miloslav Druckmüller and his team specialize in capturing images of solar eclipses. Pictured above is one photograph that compiles nine images, taken on July 22, 2009 from the Marshall Islands. Of this craft, Druckmüller writes:

Solar eclipse photography if one of the most difficult tasks of astronomical photography. There are at least three reasons for that. The first and main one is the extreme contrast which makes impossible to record the phenomenon on a single image. Neither classical nor digital photography have the ability to master the brightness ratio which is necessary for successful eclipse photography. The second reason is little chance for making experiments. If anything gets wrong it may take years to get an opportunity for a new experiment. The last but not the least reason is the fact that processing of images taken during total eclipse is very complicated and time consuming work with needs of one purpose software being developed specially for this aim.

Had the pleasure of meeting Pam at Ladyfest's Tarts n’ Crafts in Ottawa this winter. Her prints fascinate me. The bold lines and bright colors send my eyes on a roller coaster ride of adventure. Though my favorite at this time is the black and white print on the left titled Bleed-Hair . This print is on the wall behind my computer screens. It reminds me that we all have an alternate side. As I was cleaning out my purse I noticed my stash of lip balms have growen. Purse had 15, yes that is right 15. Coat has 3, randomly through out the house is about 30. Needless to say I like lip balm. The need for smooth soft kissable lips is a constant need, due to the fact they are some damn big. Cracked big lips hurt, nuf said.

All Natural balms are the way to go but they do need to meet some criteria before they can be placed on the putty lushes.

Has to be in a tub. Fingering on lip balm is a no go for this girl.
Slides on smooth. Stiff upper lip is a no no.
Great taste. If it tastes bad it goes in the trash.

At this time fav lip goo is Wildberry by Purple Urchin. Not only does it meet all the criteria it is locally made in Ottawa.

Now if you will excuse me I must go lube up.

Accept the good with the bad and remember it because we all know that "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it," So lets all remember 2009 personal events, the good the bad and the sublime. Lets relish in the memories, let the bad ones roll over us like the heat from a blanket just out of the dryer. The old pain should fade in a few minutes leaving behind all the good times and lessons. Fact: Hanukkah ends Dec 19. Kwanzaa starts the 26^th, Bodhi Day was on Dec 6^th. Hijra was on the 18. Yule will be on the 21^st.

This is why I usually say "Happy holidays" as a standard personal salutation this time of year. Its an expression of my desire for the person receiving my greeting...I want you to have a happy holiday season.

No matter what holiday your celebrating or if no holiday is celebrated, I genuinely want you to have a happy time this season. Really. I do.

In our culture it has become a season where people of all beliefs and unbelief’s take a break from work and school, spend a bit more time with the family and friends, exchange gifts to express love for one another, and it’s just a joyous time for people no matter the religion or non-religion. I like that.

Neverending Story Pendant

My obsession with the Neverending Story movies starts back in the 80s... This Auryn Pendant is the gold mix model that uses a hand crafted "married metal" technique which is even harder to do. No wonder it's so pretty!
Like most great movies, bits of reality is sowen in. The Auryn design is a variation of the legendary snake called the ouroborous. This image of a snake eating its own tail represents eternal return or the cyclical nature of the universe; it's also a Gnostic (esoteric Christian) symbol for "earthly ensnarement," but I don't wanna get in it that deep.

Steampunk.

Love the look and feel of Steampunk. There is something to be said for seeing a man dressed all in black Victorian era clothing that just gets the blood pumping. It is like walking through the pages of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne novels. On Monday my evening included meeting a most lovely lady outside Bar 56. She was dressed in one of the most sultry yet demur steampunk outfits I have had the pleasure of viewing, wish I had taken a picture of her. This adventure led to the knowledge of a Steampunk Ottawa Society and the introduction to a few individuals who share the same dark interests. Now to build a costume.

My opinion is the Muslim religion and culture is just like any another religion.It has its good points and it has its bad points. It has instructions on what one should or should not do. Among the practicing their are people who justify all that they do good and bad on said religion.

From the Christian holy wars to 9/11 many horrible human atrocities have been done all in the name of religion. For any who ask questions or make observations that may upset the normal order of things are prosecuted.

I do wonder if any who scream injustices and death have bothered to read her books. Though it seems to be much easier to scream in ignorance then in education.
